One of my pet-peeves with this truck over my GM, was the inability to control the bed light (on the back of the cab) separately from the dome lights.
Sometimes my work has me working in areas of town that I do not prefer to work in, and having the rear light on in the dark, drew unecessary attention.
I also think it is distracting to other drivers behind me when I turn the dome light on at night, and the rear light comes on.
So, I traced the wire assembly and found that the circuits for the 3rd brake light and bed light run down the drivers side rear rail, next to the rear speaker and seat-belt assembly.
I ran a dedicated wire from the upfitter #4 switch to this location and spliced in to the grey with purple stripe wire, capping off the original source.
I then ran a second one down under the cab for the LED lights I am going to be putting under the bedrails later this week.
Now, when Upfitter 4 is on, the bed light is on and my LED lights under the rails to light up the bed better, will also be on.
