Im poor so I usually do things the simpilest cheapest way. Flatbeds bring a pretty penny around here. I happened to find one off a 1981 chevy for 200$ it was in great shape but a tad narrow. Mr DOT person doesnt like tires sticking out uncovered so I had to widen it. I also wanted there tires covered. Id hate to sling a rock up and chip the hood of a lexus or something i was hauling. Pics are self explanatory. Just welded a rew extensions, painted, and added a few lights.

Ive changed the clearance lights on the back. Ive still got to do the mud flaps and add the rear hitch and bumper.

Not too shabby!

Have you considered boxing in your extensions, installing a hinged cover and using it for tie downs (or other small bits we all seem to carry) storage?

Seems to be a pretty convenient spot....
