Well is seems that when I got my burb alot of things had been replaced by the PO. Loads of newer Heath Diesel parts,, TM, Bosch Injectors, chip, lift pump, exhaust, IP filter, to name a few,,
new Burb 024.jpg

Hmm That lift pump, sure looked pretty new to me!,, So I over looked it as a cause of the slight stumble in the 1400-2200 rpm range,, from time to time. Now it didn't always do it,, and I'm not a heavy foot driver by any means.
I only work 1 mile from my house, and live in a small town. So I don't have need to go past 2000 rpms hardly at all. I've check all the grounds,,, couldn't be any cleaner. I did get a new PMD and put it on a heatsink out behind the license plate.
Needed issues to cover,, but those two things, did nothing for the Fish Bite.

So today, as I'm doing the fan clutch and Dmax fan. I decided to poke around a bit,, I found the fuel line to the IP had a loose clamp, So I snugged that up, and the T-valve had a loose clamp on the drain tube,, so I snugged that up as well. Then the thought came to me to try to open said drain valve, and well what cha know? Truck stalled. I unhooked the front fuel line on the OUT side of the lift pump, and ran it,, lot's of rattling,, but NO pumping. :mad2:

Off to the Zone to get me a 93 lift pump. $71 for the pump,, but I had a $10 off Facebook AutoZone coupon, and my 5 rewards had got me a $20 discount. So for under $50 I got the new LP in,, pumping away,, and Hmmm No More Fish Bite. Went for a test drive,, and drove it harder then I have since I bought it. Even hit 3500 rpm's for the first time!!! ScanTech Basic and the laptop said,, 13psi boost. Max Fuel Rate of 68 @ WOT. :)

Also did the pins and bushings in the drivers door. It shut's like new again.

Can't beat the feeling of a few jobs well done. :hihi:

Just got and email back form PO,,, "I do not remember when I purchased the pump - within 10K miles which is 5 - 6 years.

So I'd bet it's way out of warranty! lol Does that pump look that old in the pic? This guy said it was parked inside all it's life. <-- must of only drove it to church on Sundays too. he drove it 21000 miles in 10 years.

Bison is oh so right about a pressure gauge! They will save ur IP for sure. I would also get a Walbro lift pump from Leroy, Burning Oil. I got one last year and have 10000 miles on it burning wvo in my truck. Ran it all winter on my blend with no heat added and no problems, that Walbro will pump peanut and jelly sandwiches with 7-8 lbs of pressure in 35 degree weather and rain splashing all over the filter and pump cooling them even more!
