Hello all,
Just registered and first post. Here's a little background on what I have. I recently purchased a '88 K2500 4x4 automatic with the 6.2. This was a one owner truck with 90k miles. The truck seems to run out pretty good. The first question I have is in the shift pattern of the transmission and what controls it. It has a four speed auto transmission and seems to shift through the gears pretty quick. I'm not suggesting there's anything wrong. I'm wondering if there's any adjustment and is this normal.
Thanks in advance and I'm sorry but they'll be more questions to come. Is there any other forums that have good support for this truck?

Welcome to TTS Randy

Nice low mile truck you got, you probably have the 700r4 tranny, I don't know how their shift pattern is supposed to be. This is the best site you will find IMO.

Good luck.

Do you have a cable next to throttle that runs down to trans?
Im thinking you should have a 4L80E. If so only way I know to control shift (on the fly anyway) is with an aftermarket controller such as an OptiShift, that coinsidentally I sell.

his is an 88 which means 700r4. You should have a cable. If not thats your issue!. If yours is there it most likely needs adjusted. Do a search for TVCABLE adjust 700R4. Its not special for the diesel besides the placement. Your adjustment will be at the rear left side under the intake. Any good trans guy will know how to adjust it if you just want to hit a shop up for the work.
