Ok fellas and gals I finally have completed this project.I bought the 5er about 6 months ago as I couldn't pass up the deal on it,plus I really like the lay-out.
Well no way was my old 454 Dually gonna be able to handle this thing so I bought the Lmm seen in the pics.Got her about a month ago now.
And now with the reese 18k signature series hitch in I am ready to go -I think?I was worried the Dually would be too high but really it doesn't look bad and I wanna know from you guys what you think.Should I make adjustments?I measured the front and the back of the 5er and I have about 1 1/8 higher in back not really noticeable though. Will this hurt it?
I took some pics to show you please any comments appreciated as this is my first 5er and the first hook-up happened an hour ago.All the landing gear isn't raised completely I was excited and paranoid all at the same time.

I really like the set up Jim. Very jealous. From looking at the pics you have, I don't think you need to make any adjustments. Both the truck and trailer have a good stance and looking at the bubble on the level, you are pretty damn close to right on the money. I have a tow behind so I'm not all up on all the 5'ver's but what you have looks sweet to me.

BTW, like the NHRA plate you have on the front of the truck too. I'm a Schumacher fan.

I think it is fine and a very sharp rig. We kep all of our trailer nose high on our Goosenecks that way when it gets heavier the truck will squat and be level. Very nice rig.

Looks good to me. Is that trailer loaded? I'd look at it again once you get all the gear in there. You'll be suprised how much clothes and food weigh. The things you want to keep in mind is to have both trailer axles to be loaded as equally as possible, that is the reason for trying to tow level. Your also looking to get about 20% of the weight of the trailer on the pin. Any less it it will ride like crap, porpoise. What's the GVW of the trailer?

Thank you all very much. She isn't loaded yet so I imagine it may squat a little more. But that's good because I need to adjust the hitch in the bed up about 1 1/4 as I cant get to a sharp radius without the 5er hitch wanting to just touch the top of the bed.So with that adjusted should be fine.I have not even left the yard yet lol, need to go and get tires in the am because I don't trust the ones on her.Pretty sure they're 4 yrs old and don't look like they would hold up.The TH comes in @14k wet so it should tow well. Will probably head out in a couple of weeks if the Mountains cool down some. Thanks for the replies.

I concur, looks good Jim. My TT sits up really high, even with the weight distribution system. Let us know how she pulls. I'm lookin to get a 5er within the next year.

Thanks, ya I decided to adjust to the bottom or highest adjustment the hitch will go.This gave me a clearance of 3" to 2" for the bed rails to pin box,now dont get this twisted its when I turn 90 degrees the other numbers went up as well the bed rails clear the 5er by a good 9" a little high I know but I am working to solve this but it does pull well.Is a little high in front to back ratio but not that bad.A lot of places I go are off the main roads on dirt forest service roads with lots of dips and bumps so this gives me good piece of mind.
Bought some new tires so she's ready to go probably will take a trip in a couple of weeks.

Looks great. Unless you go off road, you should be OK with the bed rail clearance. Just be carefull.

I agree about the tires.

What ply are the tires that's on there now?

I had a 10 ply bubble on the side wall this past week on a trip in Arkansas and they are less than 2 years old. Talked to my tire guy and he suggested 14 ply tires as replacements.

They had 8ply stock and the tire guys put 10ply on this time, they are maxxis. The dirt roads I go on are not that bad a few woops but nothing real serious.I will be careful thanks.

The TH comes in @14k wet so it should tow well.

Not to make you nervous or anything like that......but, at 14K with 10 ply tires rated at 3500 each you are pushing it. My tires were rated for 3500 each and one bubbled.

Don't just look at the ply rating, look at the weight rating on the tire also, all tires are not created equal.

Not worried as I have had E-rates tires on a 10k trailer rated for 3700 each, bubble.I also purchased a tire pressure /temp monitor for the truck and trailer so this is about all I can do.If it happens well it happens lol.
Most problems I see are from heat, under inflation, and age.But I really think the tire makers could make a better tire.If you go over to Rv-net someone(many) has something to say bad about every tire made its halarious.Like you said you just gotta watch em.

Sounds like you're better informed than most which is a good thing.

That's why I carry insurance, just in case.....

I found out a long time ago that you can't prevent every problem and I don't try to.

Good luck and don't worry, you have a great set up. Now it's time to go out and enjoy it.
