Fast idle

IIRC they had a electric plunger that pushed on the throttle linkage. check it when cold to see if it has power. if it does replace the punger assy if not look at thetemp sending unit
 
check for ground too at the bracket. the same wire also controls the cold advance. like AK said if you've got no power there check the temp sensor(by #8 cylinder) and see if you have power at all there. the sensor is just a on/off temp switch. bad spot for valve cover leaks though. oil + electrical connections = no connection. been there, dealt with that.

check to make sure the plunger can move, it may have jammed itself. it only moves a 1/4in or so.
