I got the duramax fan and kennedy fan clutch,, at what temp is that biotch, supposed to start Roaring, ie full engagement? I haven't ever heard it,,, So 1 has to wonder. I got my aldl cable yesterday, and ran the free scantech,, to see that my gauge shows almost 210,, but the scangauge showed no higher than 197.5 before T-stat opened and it cooled back to 185-190 Outside is 40F.

I have the same set up and similar temps, and have not heard mine either(no roar) about 1200 miles since I installed, maybe its just not hot enough?

Fan clutch temp works off of the air temp going through the radiator, NOT the engine temp. So if your ambient air temp is cold, it is unlikely the fan clutch will come on until the engine gets pretty warm. The engine would need to get up hot enough for the stats to fully open and the radiator to get up to the engine temp. I would imagine the engine temp would have to be up to about 205-210 sustained for the JK fan clutch to kick in going down the road. If your moving that is going to increase the airflow through the radiator and will make it take longer for the fan clutch to kick in as well.

Put a trailer behind it and hit a long slow WOT climb. Lower than stock t-stats help this fan work better in my experience. From heavy load on freeway to a stop would have the fan kick in for me. Or long pulls...

Well I put my plow on the other day, to move it from mom's to my house,,, and with it only slighty blocking the grill, and about 76F out,, the factory gauge hit 220, and I almost shat my self. Now knowing my gauge is 10F too high compared to Scantechs software readings, makes me feel Way better. But I still wondered about the stock lock up temp on the clutch.
Thanks fella's :D

Replace the temp sensor for the gauge and spotlessly clean the connector or replace the connector too. Any corrosion on it will change the gauge reading. I recall the other plow operators back out of it and allow the fan to kick in.

My JK clutch didn't seem to want to kick in when I needed it last weekend towing home from camping. Temps were 215-220 on the ScanGauge. I didn't let out of it (which I have learned now you have to do) because it was all she would do to maintain 55 uphill with the headwind. The two times I pulled over to let it cool the fan engaged, but it wasn't as loud as I thought it should be. According to the PO, it was installed ~4 years ago, maybe it's getting weak.

Another thing to keep in mind is if you have a DURAMAX fan blade it will not roar in. They are designed to run quiet, and many times you won't really notice it coming in unless it fully couples. I know I don't really hear mine come in until it fully couples even with the DMAX as quiet as it is.
