I'd like to add a tach to my 94 diesel auto ... Is a factory instrument cluster with a tach a plug n play with a tach delete cluster? Is there a provision in the harness for a tach cluster?

Not sure Ive ever seen one w/o a tach. Got a picture?
I bet if its not prewired it would be easy enough to add the tach.

Would think it would be plug and play. IIRC only one or two large ribbon strip style connectors back there,,

The "NO Tach" cluster looks like a gasser unit.....I have a 89 3500 with a 454 in the yard and thats what the cluster looks like, no Tach.

If you look close the no tach model has the "diesel fuel only" logo. Ive seen them in a few diesel truck in the junkyard, mostly cheyenne series trucks.

According to my book, not my truck.

We should have three wires on the alternator.

Blue(my truck is red) = to the battery

White = Tach

Brown(mine looks black) = charge indicator

The brown and white are on the connector. The blue should connect to the stud.

Hope this helps.

Update ... Just scored a '94 gmc diesel cluster with a tach from the pick n pull , and it is a direct plug and play ..... me likey when things work out like that....
