Here are some pics of the upper intake i pulled of the engine i resurected. It came out of a 6.5 1ton dually with an nv4500 tranny, 90k miles. It was a state truck. This intake is puzzleing. What the heck is it? It doesnt have the port for the egr on the top, yet it has the webbing on the inside?? WTF is with this? Thought it was a vin f intake till i split the upper and lower apart.

Yeah, i had it ready to sell, then when i went to box it up i took it apart and was like WTF! Gotta look for the thread that shows how to do this.

Use a jigsaw with a short metal-cutting blade. Mine was like that, and it was an F.
I've seen quite a few of them.

I used a die grinder with a thin cutoff wheel for mine. If you are using a F lower intake you can loose the center piece as well

Running design changes are seen a lot in the various parts.

The later upper plenums were cast for the EGR application and if they did not need it, they simply left out the last machining procedure.

This made the casting costs less as they only had to make one part and then it could be used for the EGR application as well as the Non EGR.

Not hard to knock the web out though.
