Engine pully for 94 K3500 Are there any Aftermarkets that are better than OEM?

Engine pulley, you talking harmonic balancer pulley or accessory pulley ? Pretty much all made overseas so is it worth paying the AC Delco branded piece at dealer, search the web,

FWIW it's possible you'll get OEM part anyway I was pleasantly surprised yesterday I bought window regulators for my VW TDI $50 vs. $170 @ VW dealer I thought they'd be aftermarket, but the ones that came were VW parts.

Dorman has lion share of the replacement part for our 6.5s, engine mounts-pulleys-etc. so I suspect that is what will turn up in a web search, ORiley's has a price match policy so if you can find it cheaper on line print the advert and bring to O Riley, they will match the online price,

I've used genuine GM pullys on all the others when I installed the timing chain gears and Fluidamper.

This time I'm just installing the fluidamper and pully.

I just wondered if there was a pully that was better than the OEM. Sometimes aftermarkets are better such as our engine oil cooler lines.

I bought a china made pulley and the rubber was never bonded so it slapped and rattled and probably added some stress to my crank. :( .

Changed out a powersteering pump thinking it was making the ruckus.

Just make sure whatever you use the center is truly bonded to outer.

The percentage of garbage parts out there is high. I trust nothing, in fact, I'd rather have a 13 year old OEM part than a new replacement. I only replace when failure, with exception the harmonic balancer.

It's a total unknown these days as many "GM parts" are China or other 3rd world built ones, just put in a GM box, I wish I could be more help but it's a total crap shoot these days, I've had good luck 99% of time with non GM dealer parts I bought on the web, but I've also gotten some junk as well

Jeff the Doorman dampner & crank pulley assembly I installed on my 1500 recently appeared to be very well made. Both came with a lifetime replacement from Autozone, cost was reasonable but I did have to order them, neither were in stock items.

Time will tell...lifetime replacement does not mandate a quality product anymore.

Yep a lot of times lifetime replacement means they are charging enough for the part, counting on the warranty to promote more sales Nd banking that few people will still have that vehicle or be in a position to collect on the warranty when the part fails.

It's kind of like when I did a job at a battery factory. Some of the 2 year and 5 year batteries were exactly the same. They just charged more for the 5 year batteries.
The batteries came right down the line and got different stickers.
Does anybody have the inside scoop on batteries these days?
I'd just as soon buy the better 2 year batteries and save the extra money that goes for the warranty.

I still avoid purposefully buying made in china stuff. We've been without a toaster for monthes because I won't break down and buy a made in china unless it's on clearance

I recently had the opportunity to buy a water pump for the 6.5, Mom and pop part store, he out right asked me if I wanted the cheap china crap or the "good one" both HO pumps and part #, but one was made in Mexico or Canada (Can't remember)....Told him to send both over so I could take a look, the difference in price was about $80-$100.

The "good" one was painted black and was a little heavier in weight, the china pump was silver in color and lighter, there was clearly a quality difference....maybe the metal, I'm really not sure.....Point being, is that there is definitely some quality control issues out there....If I didn't know this guy personally, you think I would have the option of choosing?

Anyone else have this or a related part price/quality manufactured country issue?

Don't waste your money paying nearly 400$ from GM. I did that a couple years ago thinking it would be better and the f'in bag said made in China. Heath sells them too. Claims he gets them from same parts supplier as GM.

Next time yr buying ball joints check the difference in quality between the cheap one & the more expensive ones at Napa. There is no comparison between them, the more expensive one is manufactured for Napa by Moog or so the I was informed by the parts guy at my local Napa dealer. The cheap one is made by who knows...
