Engine Noise

I started hearing this noise coming from my engine when I first start up my truck. It's sort of a chirping sound. The noise goes away after the engine is warmed up. I was thinking it could be coming from one of the pulleys and then goes away after the belt gets warmer and therefore stretchier. I posted a link below. What do you guys think?

Could be the belt, one of the accessories, or water pump. Where is the tensioner in relation to its swing through travel?

If tensioner is maxed out on travel. When you first crank up and its chirping hold a candle or a bar of mild soap on the back side of the belt. Just be careful and let it rub lightly. Its a little safer on the trailing edge of a pulley. If it quiets immediately its probably the belt.

If it keeps chirping then its probably one of the accessories likely the alternator or tensioner pulley. I have shut engine down then sprayed a bit of lube on the alternator's front bearing and stopped the chirp for a moment to make sure its the noise. BUT I think this washes out the bearing and makes squeak worse and can cause it fail sooner than later.

IF its the belt buy the absolute best one you can find. A heavy duty one with Kevlar is what I am running and I have tried a few respected name brands.

schiker go it. The only 2c I can add is about the alternator(or other) bearing- instead of an oil use a spray can of graphite. Works wonders and can't wash away from water or attract dust so it stays lubed longer.

Spin fan clutch by hand and check for a loose bearing. Then drop the belt and spin everything by hand. Check pulleys for alignment. Feel for rough bearings. Fire up engine with belt off to verify noise is gone.
