Does any know if Energy Suspension or the like make poly engine mounts for the 6.5's. Energy's web site didn't show any. Summit racing only had the rubber ones. Thanks Joe OBTW its a 1994 4x4 K3500 if it matters.

Energy USED to, but I was searching for them myself (Turbo side on mine is hogged out). I have heard that they quit making them because of they imparted too much engine vibration to the cab.

I bought the ENS-3-1116G Energy Suspension inserts from Summit & their website shows them still available.

I've used ES urethane motor mounts in a few projects & some did transfer enough more vibration to be annoying. However I have no vibration complaints with the set on my truck.

Actually was glad I'd installed them when I added the DMax fan. Clearance btwn fan & shroud are fairly tight so limiting engine movement was a good thing.

I just ordered the same set from summit. They don't list the 6.5. 350 and 454 use the same insert. $25 each.

Excellent! I was standing AT the counter at the Summit Racing outlet here in Sparks, Nevada and was told what I relayed to you all. I think I will go back over with the part numbers :nono:

Kennedy Diesel has mounts

I personally HATED them though myself. I ran both style inserts and they BOTH SHOOK my truck to pieces. Switched back to OE's as the aftermarkets are slightly different even though they say they'll work.

Amen to that. I never tried urethane on the 6.5 mounts, but have had experience in my old rat-powered truck with them, -not impressed.

I can only imagine what urethane would feel like in a 6.5 truck.

Wonder if Energy Suspension has made more than one compound urethane in this GM insert?

I've had excess vibration transfer experiences like you guys mention with an Energy Suspension mount set for another application as well as a Prothane set of inserts. Those situations also set up annoying resonant vibrations in tinwork, etc.

One set was inserts that filled the original bushing's void spaces. We ended up pitching the urethane inserts & adding amounts of 3M's WindowWeld compound to fill the voids 'til we found a happy medium.

But the ES set I put in my 6.5 truck are fine. They don't allow as much torque related twist, but no annoying vibrations that are worse than I recall w/ the oem rubber mounts.

Be interesting to see how BK95TD's set work out?

thanks for all the input. I am not worried about the vibration too much truck is 1 ton dually it rides like a mack already. I am gonna go to Summit this weekend.

Summit swears those won't work.. Sigh.. what happened to all the old knowledgeable farts that used to work there.. now it's the ricer crowd. Damn.

The ones ES makes for a gasser WILL fit into the diesel clamshells. You have to trim roughly a 1/4" off the ends though to do it. Also they require ALOT of compressing to sandwhich them in there. The ones KENNEDY references in his thread are actually fairly loose fitting in the clamshells, and this is why he reccomends bending the rear plate inward I believe. The ones KENNEDY references didn't transfer alot of engine vibrations, but they moved so much inside the clamshells under load that my exhaust would hit with a trailer on. And the gasser ones had NO give to them and shook my rearview mirror off. After trying both sets of poly mounts from ES, and then going to factory rubber mounts. The difference is night and day. Worn OE mounts are no comparison to new mounts either.

I am running the ES motor mounts and I do not find it objectionable. I have a 97 Tahoe and the inserts I used were purchased from Summit, part# ENS-3-1116g. I installed the mounts Nov. 2004 and they still feel tight.
At highway speed, I can't tell the difference between the rubber mounts or the poly mounts.
You need to purchase two mounts and reuse your old motor mount shells.

Attached is a pic of the insert I used. I recognized them as the same set I'd installed in a friend's '85 Chevy 3/4 4x4 with gasser smallblock.

They fit snug in the original clamshells, maybe that's the difference? I'd pulled the clamshells apart to blast & powder coat them. The inserts were tight enough you couldn't close the clamshell halves by hand. Didn't want to weld them since they were already coated, so I held them together w/ button head bolts.

If memory serves, seems like they needed to go together in a specific orientation. Can't recall exactly but it had to do with how those 2 angled steel pieces (molded into the insert) line up in relation to the engine side motor mount.

Not certain what, but something's gotta be different to explain such different outcomes. Both my truck & the set I put in the older Chevy gasser work as expected.

I can relate to the mirror comment when the transferred vibration is excessive. The Prothane inserts I tried on my Eagle Talon continually vibrated the interior rearview mirror so much you couldn't focus well enough to make out what was behind the car.

The 3-1116 mounts fit ok, but were too loose in my mounts for my taste. They allowed the engine to move more than I liked under a load. The 3-1121 will work, but I had to trim about a 1/4" off the sides to close the clamshells. YOU MUST WELD THEM BACK TOGETHER THOUGH!! The inserts will take 2 good alignment punches and a big vise to close together as you have to compress them about 3/4" to close em up. I ended up putting them into a set of gasser clamshells which are slightly larger than the diesel shells, but they still were too tight for a diesel and made a HORRIBLE resonance in the cab at idle. The factory mounts went back in after 2 weeks of trying to find a set of urethanes to work, and no more vibration problems.
