engine locked 89 GMC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just had injectors, IP, timing chain, gears & Fluidamper installed on the 89 2500 2 wd.

We're not sure why but The engine locked up. The crank will not turn with the timing chain off. I'm going to scrap the truck. The block is a year 2000 and was in excellant condition when we had a head off just prior to this incident. It had a broken rocker & we jumped the gun pulling the head.

This may sound dumb but have you tried turning the crank backwards just to make sure nothing was dropped down an intake port.

Yup, we tried many things. I cross posted at the other site.
We tried from both ends of the crank with the startyer and timing chain removed.
The crank appears to have moved back towards the rear of the engine. Is this possible with a manual trans?

The engine had good oil pressure and compression til this happened. otherwise I wouldn't have dumped the money into it.

I'm kind of anxious to tear into it further and see what's wrong. I plan to pull the engine and part out the truck as with 800,000 miles I'm the only person in the world that places any value on the truck.

If anybody has any parts in particolar they are interested in, let me know. I won't have much disassembly time for a while & I'm not supposed to work alone yet. If somebody is close and wants something I would work with you in one manner or other. I'd even trade whatever part for some labor here.

with the crank moving back I wonder if you don't have a broken crank. Even then I don't know how it could shift in the mains. Be interesting to hear what you find.
