My engine cover had a change of tone today:

I don't know why people take these off, that's damned good looking!

It is a passenger vehicle after all. Kind of looks like an "implement" without it. Or maybe that's why people take it off? It's not relly an access hassle either, it's only 4 10mm bolts. :dunno:

Anyways, enough of that! Poll time:

Should I leave it all black, paint the letters silver, sand them off from the bottom and add a bit of chrome mesh from underneath or something else all together different?

I'm leaning towards silver paint.....

:smile5:

PS: don't say "chuck it in the garbage" for other please. Not going to happen....but please elaborate if you do pick other.

Cheers

On another thought:

I ran across this shape a while ago on a computer case:

nzxt_lexa_s_front_intake.jpg

That would look fantastic on the front end of the earlier, more "rectangular", style engine cover....

Paint them like red, and then paint the fins(that wavy part on the top of it opposite the turbo tubing) the same color(im partial to red)...Or paint them to match the color of ur truck....

Sorry..didnt know what color ur truck was(i didnt look for any pics)...Im not into silver as a trim(my trucks silver and is trimmed in silver)....I like red and black as trim colors, and even chrome on silver isnt bad....

That's cool.

Don't misinterpret my post, i'm not "tweaked" by your post or anything like that...

cheers

;)

Wow. That looks amazing in just black. If you had a steady hand and a small paintbrush, it might look cool to just outline the letters in silver. I guess you need a theme going in the engine bay to really decide what color works best with everything else.

It sure does look good, but seems like a heat insulator to me ;)

But it just wouldnt fit over mine anymore with the crap I installed on and over the intake, and that intake will soon be replaced with something entirely different

Nah, IMO that's the 6.5 world's equivalent of the "urban myth". The cover isn't going to hold any more heat than that big sound deadened hood a mere inch above. The back of it is completely open and it's heavily vented at the top...

But it just wouldnt fit over mine anymore with the crap I installed on and over the intake,

That's why I'm keeping one, to cover up stuff and keep it neat.

Ah yes, the "elbow". Very useful in an intercooled setup, which is where I'm betting you're headed.

I would be......:smile5:
