I need to add something to my gauges do delay the start sequence. I have the Autometer Nexus gauges which are very electronic. They have a module that controls the gauges. My problem is that when it is cold out the gauges stop working because of the draw and electrical demand of starting of my truck, it interupts the gauges and they stop working. The gauges already have a delay when they get powered up so it won't be interupted by starting of the car (most likely gasser). Its not long enought to wait for the glow plug delay and then the demand of a cold start. So I need some sort of Capaciter to go inline with the acc circuit to delay powering up the guages until the truck is started approx 5 -8 seconds I haven't timed it. Any ideas. I know someone knows I really don't want to go over to the other place until exhaust all we have here... :smile5:

Maybe a time-delay relay. Similar to what some have done for the HID headlights at startup. I know there were articles at the other place, not sure if they made their way over here. But thats one idea.

Thats what I am thinking...

if you are electronically minded, Radio Shack used to sell a book called "555 timer cook book".it has a parts list, with parts available at RS, to build what you are looking for. alternately Google "time delayed relay"

interesting... i will have to look for that.
Thanks!

John, the only thing that would work would be a electronic timer as suggested and/or a simply switch that the user would toggle power on/off as needed, switch is much cheaper and easy to install, you could however install a timer and if the amp rating is high enough you could use it to control other timing functions.....both suggestions quoted above would be what I would consider

Well I did install a switch to reset when it locks up. I also found a power supply that does not charge with the remote start, so all these accessories stay off until I turn the key forward...
