I have my egt prob on my down pipe, I know that's not the right way but it is what it is. Just running around empty Im around 400, when pulling it gets up to 650 on long grades. That sound ok? Or is the temp so far off there I need to move it to the cross over to get a good reading?

Having all these gauges I can only do 40mph to keep everything in check

I put mine in the cross over tube and run just under 350 around town. But going over the Cascades with under 1000lbs, can hit 1050. That was at 55mph

Thats perfect. On post turbo pyro time to worry is around 900ish, where as pre-turbo they say its 1000-1100. You still got plenty of legs to stretch before your even close to too hot EGT.

In the tech tips from Kennedy's site it says the temp should never get over 1250 IIRC. And that was with the prob in the cross over tube. Is this not right? I've had a spike to 1200 when I pulled off a road and looked in the rear view and seen the big truck headed my way fast. It would be nice to know before I make that climb again.

I just checked and it was Heath's site and it says 1200 in the cross over tube.

pre-trubo, on downpipe from Heath's- I run 450-550 unloaded, average 850 moderate load on flats and up to 1150 on long 6-8% grades. not moving very fast near the top. post turbo will drop temps, just find parameter for post and don't linger in high numbers long.

Mine usually sits at about 450 in the down pipe at about 55 mph unloaded. A/C on will bump it up 25 degrees or so. I don't think I've been able to get it up past 950 since I put Heath's EPROM in it and that was pulling hard and long on a grade.

That is what I am running and mine is drilled into the ex manifold right under the turbo .

Unloaded.....
EGT in the downpipe, I can sustain 13psi boost on grade with EGTs about 900.

Flat, running 100MPH with boost about 16psi sustained it also creeps towards 900.

Around town its about 200-400.

Some people have compared pre and post and only seen a 100 degree difference, but I assume a 200 degree difference for safe measure, so if I ever see it at 1000 in downpipe I'll make sure to back off throttle.

WMI going in this weekend though, so not sure I'll ever get to 1000*
