Ok, so i know there is an EFI Live section, but i didn't want to post this there, but if you think it should go there, mods can move it.

Ok, so let me get this straight, EFI Live is a computer program that you download on to a laptop and access your truck's stock computer through the OBD II port, correct? How much does it cost, where do you get it, and how are you supposed to tune correctly, so you don't cook a tranny? Any and all help is welcome. Thanks in Advance!

correct...

I got mine from Guy at SoCal Diesel...he will include a basic Tow Tune with the EFI Live V2 scanner cables and software...with 2 Vin Licenses to enable you to do a second vehicle...I've seen it priced from anywhere between $659 and $799 do your homework and find your best deal...but you can't beat the support of Guy @ SoCal or others like Nick at Duramaxtuners.com
I haven't ventured into anything beyond the tow tune but you could use that as a baseline to gradually up your hp and tq...but I guess you'd have to know when to quit...and to some it is addicting and some will push the envelope and go beyond that threshold...thats where tune sharing and letting others look at your tune will come into play...now that we have a tune Library I'm sure others will be able to help a little more...I'm new at this too so it will be a learning experience for me as well...

Good Luck with your decision...and I hope soem of the more experienced EFI liver's will chime in to help answer your questions...

Ok, thanks pepp, again, it is my dad's truck, and i don't want to void warranty, or blow anything up, so idk about it, I'm just exploring my options and trying to convince him to do something to it, so I'm trying to figure out the best options.

imo, it is the best way to do what you want with your truck. i know you guys tow ginourmous and a nice tow tune with some turbo tweeks to close the vains down at 0% throttle would make for extra grade braking. do some tweeking to the trans tune to shift a little higher in the power band ect.

Yeah, any and all purchases are way off, we are spending money on a bumper and a hitch, and money is gonna get a little tight around here, so anything for performance will be this winter, at the earliest.

I just got my EFI Live from Jim at upstate diesel, and I am running his LBZ tune 425-450 horse at the wheels, it is the best tuner out there for the GM's my buddy tanner is running a nice tow tine in LB7 and he is putting a Tow tune into a LLY here this week or next, the options are endless. It was worth 700 bucks, except now my Alli hates me. But a trip to ATS in Col. will cheer it back up.
