ECM question

I peeled my ECM out of my 98 to to see if i would have a performance chip in there.
It apears there aint a removable EPROM cover on this ECM like i have in the 95.
How do i tell what i got?
I dont believe its stock cause i can run sustained 18lbs boost and it never defuels or sets a code.

Looks like a factory fresh PCM, no chip for OBD-II requires a computer send away for it to be reflashed if you want it to have a performance tune in it, Heath marks his reflashes externally, so you know, I'm not sure what others do,

Do you have a scan tool, if so what is max fuel rate, is it possible somebody put a 3 Bar MAP sensor so your PCM does not know how much boost it is making ?

yea,i got AE,i'll hook it up tomorow and have a look.
You got me stumped on the 3 bar Map?
Dont know what PO did or did,nt do?It looked all stock when i got it,just had a blown engine.

The EEPROM is soldered onto the PCB in there, not a simple swap like OBD1. Needs to be reprogrammed through the harnesses, good thing there were a bunch of extra pins.

The map, if for 3 bar, the ratio of volatge return would seem like there is less boost than what our PCM would think it was. So just see if AE and your gauge agree. If not then maybe there is a boost fooler?

if it were not stock I'd suggest the programming company would have their logo on it. Mine has a heaths sticker on there. And it woke the truck up. Amazing what a little sticker will do. Ed

Mebbe you got yourself one of those metric boost gauges...

AE tells me boost is 14 PSI idle or WOT (it never moves),gauge says 13 at WOT no load ,stomping it down on a flat road.

Are you sure you werent looking at Baro value? Maybe there is another field like calculated boost. Ive never used AE so cant help much.

not that i can find.With AE i cant turn off inj either.
GMTDScan is far more specific(i got that too)
