My drivers door needs the door pins replaced. Has anyone done this before? Is something I can do at home or is there going to be welding involved? I'm not at home with the truck right now so I can't run out and look at it. Getting tired of listening to the door rattle when I go over bumps and would like to get this fixed before the bumping roads of Winter get here. Thanks again guys for your expertise.

Simple tools are all you need.

A hammer and punch or brass drift. Also, pick up a door spring compressor tool (about 10 bucks).

Compress the door spring and remove it.

Pull back the rubber boot and disconnect the power wires at the molex plugs.

Have a helper support the door (it's heavy, Make sure the wife is very strong if you use her!)

Drive out the upper and lower pins. Remove door.

Drive out the bushings and replace them with new ones. Pay attention to the different sizes and orientation of the old ones.

Hang the door and slip in the new pins. Drive them home with hammer/drift.

Clip them once in with supplied clips in kit ( if it has clips).

Connect wires and replace rubber boot.

Reinstall the door spring.

You're done!

If you give me a couple of weeks I will do a write up on this. My drivers door is getting worst every day.

Oh yeah, one more thing;

Be very careful with that door spring.

Once compressed, its holding a lot of stored Energy.

If it slips it's going to take off like a rocket. If it hits someone it going to hurt like the dickens at best or really injure them at worst...

I did mine & now 1 yrs or so later the bottom brass grommet has worked it's way back up out the hole. Wondering if a dab of locktight would of kept this from happening?

Like said you definitely need a helper...I'm gonna get to do mine again I guess

Sure will.

I use locktight red ones that like to back out...
