I'm wanting to burn a CD from my digital camcorder and I'm not understanding what's all needed. I have a burner on my pc, and NERO installed from a disc but I think it's only for songs and such.

I know member eng158 tried getting some info a while back but Jim shut his thread down due to copy-right laws. I don't think there is an issue with what I'm asking here. If there is..Mods please let me know.

So my question is what program are you guys using?
Any help would be appreciated. Getting frustrated.

Thanks.

Depending on which operating system you use, windows may have something built it that works very well for working with these types of files.

You stated you already have Nero - that program used to very capable of what you want to do as well. I have used it in the past, but the newer versions have gotten so bloated that I haven't use it for quite a while now.

I happen to be partial to Ashampoo for my burning needs, but that one will cost you some money.

Thanks for the reply Ozzy. My NERO don't burn DVD's though. Maybe I should try and update it.
As for Ashampoo...is it easy to use? Maybe I'll look into it?

Hey Dad,

If you have a TV hooked up type of DVD player/burner, just plug in the camcorder to that burner and have at 'er. That's what I do. A lot quicker than have to figure out Windoze, and other programs.

Thats a good idea Art. I don't have a DVD burner on my TV setup though. I hope to get a program on the pc that I can edit stuff if possible. I guess I'll keep at it till I get good and pissed off.

One of the fellows at work says a program called DIKO is available and free and does it all. I can google it, here at work, and get results, but our intranet firewall won't let me look at. So have a look. Good luck.

Ok guys, got er done!!

I downloaded Ashampoo and burned a disc. Seems to work pretty good. Now I think I need a fire wire?? My USB cord seems to make the vid a bit choppy. Who knows.

Now to stock up on discs and go crazy recording my tapes to DVD.

Thanks again for the help!

Well at least you got it to work.
The choppy playback may be the result of a couple things, slow computer, lack of codecs, etc. I am hesitant to recommend a codec package not knowing what you have now, but this site has one of the more popular packages: http://www.codecguide.com/

If I was to choose one off that page I would go with the 4.6.2 Mega. That is the latest and greatest stable version.

As always when visiting these types of sites be careful what you click on or agree to.
They can be sneaky and you may install something you really don't want. :mad2:

Seems I'm gonna resurrect this old thread with another question.

Can anyone tell me why I get a pop up from Microsoft that reads: Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
It asks me if I want to send an error report or not. What the heck is causing this and how can I remove it?

You're gonna need to provide more information.
This is Windows new way of dealing with the old blue screen of death.
Rather than locking up it nukes the program that caused it.
You need to figure what you're doing when it happens. Another nerdy way to do it is to look in the logs. I could point you there if you need to, but just try to pinpoint it first.

Thanks for helping me out Ozzy.

I think it's under control now. I downloaded some stuff and that is when it started. After deleting the downloaded items it went away. Must have been contaminated or something. All seems to be well now. Thanks again.
