For the life of me I cannot understand the dashboard on my 97 Burb. The indicator for the lights stays on when the lights are off and when you energize the lights , the indicator goes off :rolleyes5:

From checking on youtube for vids on other Suburbans I found that this "might" be normal operation of the indicator..

And what is up with the Airbag indicator top left corner..:mad2: its always on :mad2:

That indicator is for the Daytime Running Lights ("DRL"). Basically, your Low beams are always on. The indicator disappears when you actually turn your Low beams on.

Airbag indicator always on means there's some sort of fault with the airbags. My '95 has had this light on since inception and I just ignored it. Afterall, it is a Burb and it's the biggest, baddest thing on the road.

Edit: Geez AK is a fast typer, even at -30 F.

OK its the DRL's but why this setup, most cars/trucks only have an indicator when your lights are on .... . I guess I will leave the airbag light alone for now ...

the only real lights on indicator I have seen is the blue high beam indicator. never have I seen a indicator that lights when the lights are on, unless you count the instrument and HVAC backlighting.

the official purpose that I understood by reading the manual, the green DRL light is there to remind you the DRL lights are active, and that no other lights are. basically to remind the driver at dusk that they need to turn their lights on so the clearance and parking lamps are lit.

In Clownifornia it's now the law that you must have your headlights on when your windshield wipers are on. The DRL feature ensures that you are in compliance.

My burb's air bag light comes on from time to time. It is an indication that if in a wreck your air bag will not deploy. Might het that looked at. On mine it is usually one of the sensors on the frame on the front. It is a little box that has a wire going to it on either side. Usually when I mess with that wire it makes the list stay off. Good luck.
