so I finally need new tstats. my ? the parts places list 2 diff tstat 1 with a bypass and 1 without. I looked at my housing and it looked like it is possible to have 2 diff tstats in it. So which is it?

If this is for the 96 in your sig, then you need to see if it has 1 or 2 stats in it. If it has 1 stat it uses the stat with the bypass blocking plunger, if it uses 2 then it does not. Also I HIGHLY reccomend using ONLY AC/DELCO or GM stats here as they are different.

rock auto also shows the bypass style clear up to at least 99 for the dual stats which I have. I know that I use the 2 1/8 stat and it is made both bypass and non

Les,i would go with the bypass T-stats,might save you a blown gasket, heater or hose in case the damn things one day fail to open altogether.
Plus it'll be easier to bleed the coolant system.

X3 on the AC Delco's for the dual stat application. Every time somebody else changed stats for me they tried to use aftermarkets. None of them worked. It always pissed me off after paying somebody to do something that I had to pay again and do it myself anyway.

On the single stat application, the Stewart stats are what I had the best luck with. They are the only stat I run in that application
