I can't seem to find the 2 gaskets for the housing that attaches to the block. Can I use black rtv silicone instead. Or should I get them from Auto part store. Thanks.

Thank you. Seems like AM General uses it everywhere. Now if I can only find the WP bypass hose.

Thanks for the link, it will come in handy. I have a new one in the garage. problem is it might be mixed in with jeep or Datsun parts. I'll have to order another for it to turn up.

I would not use RTV on the crossover.
One can make his own gaskets from gasket material.I lay a piece of material over the part and use a ball bearing a bit bigger than the bolt hole i need to make, push it in the hole to make a dimple so it stays in place ank rap it with the hammer,..Makes a clean hole every time. Cutting the contours is the last thing i do.
Gasket sheetstock can be had in several thcknesses in any automotive store.

If you know how the gasket should look like, the part store usually have a ready made one for less than $2 each.
Gasket is a non-moving part.

Not sure if the gasket material will be cheaper but I know making it yourself is much more fun.

Unless you are really far from a part store or you may have a lot of gasket material around left over from the Datsun days. LOL!!!

I found the gaskets while looking for the bypass hose and used them. I never found the hose. I'm in Ma looking though both barns of parts now. I actually have the chevy stuff kinda in one spot in Jersey so I'm not expecting to find it till the new one shows up.

usually when I make my own gaskets I just grab an old cereal box. if I'm really worried I put a thin coat of RTV on it

I remember my Dad teaching me the cereal box trick, dang now I want some cheerios.
When I got my new optimiser, another guy was picking his up at same time and the shop guys were changing out an incorrect intake and crossover for him. Even those had permatex. They must buy that stuff by the drum.

I learn something everyday. I guess its time to start eating cereal.
