Hi guys,

In my quest for "more power", I am looking into getting a dual-alternator setup for the Tahoe. I know that it is certainly a straightforward proposition for a 96+ 6.5, but how about a '95? Is it possible to do? Was the 'ambulance option' available for a '95? If so, can anyone give me particulars as to how to do it, or what parts I need?

Thanks,

Rob :)

I think millitary versions might have it but this I can tell you. My 95s alt is on the opposite side of my 2000. I know the old CUCVs had dual but they were V belt.

If the 95 brackets are not availible anymore you could probably change the whole configuration to 96+.

Hmmm. I don't think so. Looking at my '99 burb, a whole lotta things are in the way. Everything on the '99 is different from the '95 in terms of layout. Don't think I can just buy brackets and it will work.

Rob :)

I don't think it is straight forward. They are opposite of each other, so the AC is on the pass side for 95 while it is on the driver side on 96+. So you have to redo the AC line, unless you don't have AC. The bolt on the alternator is also reverse or mirror image of each other.

Had thunderstorms rolling throught when I got home so no pics.

Layout is:
Left top: Alt
Left bottom: Vacuum pump
Right Top inner: AC Compressor
Right Top outer: Alt
Right bottom: PS pump

Not sure where your at but a junkyard I dealt with alot used to deal heavily in old ambulanced and this junkyard sold only 4x4 stuff. No cars. They are on Long Island. Might be worth a phone call. 631-286-1616 I think. D&D auto wreckers. I have not dealt with them in atleast 3 yrs but I would think they are still around. I used to get 454s from junked ambulances.
