but if it works we could make it a sticky and always have "helpers" online....

Hey LUPO,you still wanna hack in and fix or blow my puter?

it should work between Windows 7 Pro (what i have) and any other Windows OS, aside from some minor compatibility issues.

need someone to help me test this, as I am evidently a firewall nazi (currently testing COMODO, in Vista ZoneAlarm Pro and in XP Sygate Pro) and need to find out what settings / ports i have to open to do this.

let us do it the easy way and test windows 7 to 7 first of if bison is still interested to 7 to XP right away.

Can I connect to a computer running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 from a computer running a later version of Windows?
Yes, you can, but there are a few compatibility issues to be aware of:

In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, you can't pause a Windows Remote Assistance session. So if the person being helped is using a later version of Windows and decides to pause a session while connected to a remote computer running Windows XP, the helper using Windows XP will not be notified that the session is paused.

In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Remote Assistance supported voice capability. Voice capability is not supported in later versions of Windows. So if a person using Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 clicks the Start Talk button, nothing will happen.

Logmein.com is good there is a free agent but this would need the end user to install it...

I think the biggest thing is security. I will check with my IT guy they have a remote support where you need a access code generated for each session with out having an agent pre installed....

Sounds like what I use. Its called TeamViewer. Works well.

Gotoassist is a citrix based progam it has unlimited single use sessions. Pricing is ok $69 a month or $660 a year... I am not sure if its worth it. I like Logmein.com free but like I said end users would have to download the agent. It can be turned off and on when needed...

remote assistance is on every windows PC and it s free.
i know there are tons of other services but i prefer to use what is there already instead of installing any extras and of course I prefer free too....
