I just finished up my cooling up grade today. Went to take it for a test drive and it went into R okay and then went in to D for just for a few seconds and then nothing tranny will not engage at all. Fluid is okay and smells okay nothing smells or looks burnt. There was no sound of anything grinding or braking. I pulled out dtc 59 tft circuit high. I would like to fix this my self instead of taking it to the shop.

Thanks

What did you all change in the recent upgrade. Was that the only code you could get out of it?

I would try disconnecting and reconnecting the transmission connector first off.

I started cleaning grounds. Its getting a little dark now so will have to resume tomorrow. I also noticed when I disconnected the neg cables from the battery they work spark. Doesn't that mean somethings grounding out. I also checked the voltage to the tranny plug pin E had 11.5 volts.

well was thinking about what I did and back tracked my self and noticed that the tranny cooler lines are bone dry. So this means I'm getting no line pressure. What would cause it to have no pressure (pump maybe). Going to finish cleaning grounds tomorrow and see what happens.

Thats more than originally said, guess I should not have asked all that was changed but all that had been done. So then you removed the tranny cooler lines into the radiator. Now there is a connection to the work that was done.

Im not sure how that causes your problem, unless you just leaked all out of the cooler and didnt put anymore back in. Or if you got water into the lines while they were disconnected. Probably be fine if you flush the system. Some places have those machines that will flush and replace all the fluid by disconnecting at the radiator and hooking the mahine in series to one of the cooler lines. you just put the new fluid in the machine and it recirulcates it.

I made sure that no water got in the cooler lines but who knows. And if it did would that cause it to have no pressure. I just finished talking to one of the mechanics that I use he said that there should always be pressure even in limp mode. He also said that the pump may have gone out or plugged filter. If anything broke I would here some type noise and there is no noise. Also cleared dtc 59 and now when I check it nothing. Could the tcm be getting funky. Could this be some type of limp mode. I'm totally stumped.

Well, how careful not to get water in the radiator when hosing it off. Im sure you plugged the tranny cooler holes. Did you leak that fluid out, so that you need to put more in?

I plugged the cooler ports with some screw on line caps. Unless the caps leaked witch they didn't look like they did but water find its way I guess. Also the the tranny has fluid and its a bit over topped so there is fluid. Also the fluid on the dip stick doesn't look like it has any water on when I check it

What happens if you start the truck with the output line unhooked from the radiator? You should get some fluid being pumped out...

If not, then yeah, your pump might have dumped on you. In any case, those lines should not be bone dry.

I did by pass them with a hose line and the hose line was dry. I'm thinking the same thing my pump went out and if it did could it have damaged the tc as well. I also want to say thanks to every one that has replied.

Well, if so, then it is totally unrelated to your cooling system upgrades... the only thing it could be is an airlock, if you had a bunch leak out, but you say it didn't, so...

I suggest towing it to a tranny shop. They'll be able to diagnose it on the truck - you might just need a drain/fill and maybe a new filter.

Up Date (Is he blowing smoke up my a$$)

Well I had the truck towed over a week ago to the tranny shop that had rebuilt it. Went to check on it last Friday and the shop owner told me he drove on to the rack in 4wd. Then put it back into 2hi and it engages fine now.So he told me to leave it so he could check it more. Went on Wednesday to see whats up and his tech told me that the owner drove it around for a bit and that the trannys fine their suspecting the t-case is the problem. Finally got hold of the owner and he told me the same thing. So after being there 3 time I noticed that there have been about 3 different car on the rack and in the shop. He wants to keep in it to test drive it again. I'm thinking If my tranny fine and the t-case is the problem why is it diving and shifting fine. I have the feeling that he's blowing smoke up my a$$ and at the least trying some cash out of me. So should I pick up and service it my self and I know where to pick up another t-case for 150 bones.
