far South Texas; near Padre Island
On our 8,700 mile trip to Nova Scotia, SES light / DTC 36 was popping up, and would shut off the cruise control.

I had switched over to ND30 (Non Detergent 30 weight motor oil) as a lubricity additive.

I apparently didn't put in enough on one tank, and that was the solution; 1 qt per 1/2 tank.

We always fill around 1/2 tank (24-20 gallons), except once we ran from Maine to Halifax and put in 32.4 gallons [whew!]. I wasn't worried so much about air in the line; Smoooth Canadian highways.

Just wanted to share a solution; keep that IP LUBED!

So youre saying using more oil helped? You have that big 40 gallon tank. I recommend using twice as much SAE30 as one would use TCW3 2-stroke oil. 2-stroke is effective enough at 200:1 ratio, so for SAE30 I would recommend 1 qt to around 25 gallons of fuel.

Glad it worked out for you.

So far so good, no oil or additives added in the 95 as long as we own the truck.
I very occasionally chuck some diesel conditioner in the tank though.

I'm sure the PO did,nt use it either.we bougt it with 307 k,IP replaced at 120 K or so(dealer waranty).
As of today,364 k .It never missed a beat or set a code yet

New nozzles at 310 K.

I burn only dyed diesel in this truck(PO did too) and both other trucks

good question?
i dont know if Can has diff regulations and/or requirements than the US,all i know is that its sold as off/on road farm diesel fuel

He'll most likely be using Dyed #2 ULSD, same as the rest of us. In winter, we get a 70-80% blend of #1, depending on the temps. Usually by January/February, we're on straight #1 - the cloud point is just too high for #2 in the winter.

Now here's a dumb article...

Although it does describe the process to a point. Winter diesel (depending on the maker) can contain all kinds of stuff I don't want in my engine... including napthalene (GASP - mothballs, or MonsterDiesel!) No wonder the power and mileage goes down...

Yep - they know how to make good winter fuel up there... down here, they still screw around sometimes. Anything to shave a few cents off a gallon of the stuff. :(

Hell.i dont care whats in it as long as it does'nt give problems,i never had none with farm bulk summer or winter.
Gas station fuel is a diff can of worms,i steer away from it as much as i can. i usually can find a co-op or UFA farm supply card lock when i'm away from home.Cheaper too.

Yep - you can't go far wrong using farm fuel. I was in Saskatchewan last week and asked a local farmer where I should fuel up my Motorhome; he pointed me at a run-down, shabby looking cardlock. I wasn't sure about that until he told me that all the local farmers fueled up there, as did the County maintenance vehicles and graders, and that they all shunned the shiny Petrocan on the highway.

Filled 'er up, had no problems at all. You screw up a guy's tractor just once and nobody will ever go back there, so you know they take care of their tanks and have fresh fuel.

I've had good luck at home with the local truck stop fuel, but the road trip mucked up the sock in tank.
I'm not looking FW to dropping the tank!

I now have to run 1 qt ND 30 to 20 gallons to prevent the code 36; w o r n IP.
