Argh.....

97 K1500. Had a brand new (not rebuilt) IP installed about 2 years ago (by me).

Armature shaft must have broke on me because driving the truck has been like riding a bull lately - tons of surging issues, at idle the truck would rev up to 2000 RPM and back to idle on its own...weird...

Needless to say, I took 2.5 hours to replace the IP on the truck today....ugh...maybe I should quit farming and start turning wrenches....):h

Attaboy, Chris... nice to see you haven't lost your touch!

LOL... are we having fun, yet?

That sucks. I have 173 on both mine. The Vin check on the GMC showed it was replaced at 20k so that is still 150K. Makes ya woner why some go but maybe the rebuild one you got had crazy miles on it to begin with. I know Heath was a staunch supporter of not using rebuilds only new, but of course now he sells rebuilts.

He sells rebuilds because he knows who is building them, but when I talked to bill about it, he said he would never put a generic rebuilt on his own vehicle... too much to go wrong if you don't know who did the work.

He refused to carry them because he felt it would just cause him grief and he liked to maintain quality. Now he has the rebuilt by somebody he trusts.

Any IP can go at any time... but the biggest problem with rebuilds, to my mind, is that you don't know how many miles were on it BEFORE it got rebuilt.

The truck is a 'fleet' truck that we use on the farm. The symptoms popped up all of a sudden.

JD - the new pump fixed the problem. Cruise works again too.....

BTW - same remote mounted PMD that was being used with the 'bad' pump...
