my grey PM, relocated on a SSdiesel heatsink behind the grill has quit after 6 months.
I replaced it with a black flight system PMD. This one works fine though it throws a DTC 35 and light ON the MIL.
I replaced this one with another flight system I borrow, and hope Pensacola will exchange the failing one.
That being said, I'm hunting a new PMD, especially a seller who can ship it fast at reasonable price. Browsing the big market site,
I found an AD warning against DORMAN PMD :
He says DORMAN PMD is made in China.
His AD says :
"As many of you are aware, I have been selling a GM approved PMD manufactured by Flight Systems Inc. They became a supplier of the PMD after Stanadyne Automotive Inc. was dropped by GM, undoubtably because of the failure rates of their PMD's. Recently it was brought to my attention that Dorman Products has copied the Flight Systems design and are having in made in China. Please be advised that this unit is NOT THE GM APPROVED VERSION and should not be considered OE, as is the Flight Systems PMD. I have included a picture below so you can identify these aftermarket PMD's that are making their way into the US market from China".
Question is: I thought the black improved PMD was made by Flight System only, in the States. All other brands, D-Tech/Dipaco, Wellman, Dorman, in my minds were just rebadged Flight system PMDs.
Apparently Dorman have Chinese PMDs... Or are these especialy made for Dorman as copies of the Flight System, or do Flight System in fact have his PMDs also made in China?
