Dorman PMD

Looks like a d tech by another name to me. And more money too. They sell D techs under a few different names, Dipaco, WAP and probably now doram. All made by same company AFAIK.
Chrisk was experiencing a few weird issues in extreme cold IIRC.

FWIW - At times the service from Northern Auto Parts isn't up to par with other catalog vendors.

Few years back I ordered a common GM waterpump. After 2 weeks, nothing had arrived. So I called and was told the part had been on bko, but the vendor's schedule said NAP should get it the next week, then a day or two for NAP to get it received & it would ship to me.

After 4 weeks w/ no parts, I called again to check. This time was transferred to someone that sounded like a buyer. He told me he'd be placing the order for it the very next Monday.

Now I understand the smaller guys can't often get the same pricing from vendors as the Summit's & JEGS of the world. I get that & will sometimes pay a bit more to support a parts supplier that gives good service. But the apathetic service experience I've had w/ Northern made them just about the only parts house I'd have anything negative to about.

If you want to go Dipaco/Dtech I got the best deal from Accurate Diesel. I don't think he is a vendor here yet but he was on the old site. It was a WAP but same thing. No issues with it yet.

I have never regretted buying from a vendor. I can't say the same for my experiences with outside places... I saved a buck or two, but...

I also make it a point not to come on here and tell everyone how dumb I was when I did it...

On the other hand, I DIDN'T save ANYTHING when I bought my PMD Isolator from Bill Heath all those years ago... and it is STILL under warranty and I STILL don't regret that decision, even for an instant.

And I STILL feel like a genius for buying a PMD that won't crap out from a vendor who has helped me immensely over the phone and in person. To the point of not making a sale because I didn't need the part I wanted to buy.

In case you wondered. :D:D

Yeah , Let me correct myself, If you need the whole thing heat sink cable and all Heath is the way to go. if you just need the PMD alone I don't think he sells them that way.

Nope, but site vendors do... Leroy being one, and we've had great luck with the other guys getting things that they don't normally carry.

You can't go wrong when you stay in-house... besides, these guys support us, so we need to support them.

That is a relabled Dipaco.

FYI: I do offer a 7 year warranty when the kit is puchased.

Don't need one myself. Have a new Diapco mounted on a Heath style heatsink with one of Leroy's cables and a brand new GM one as a spare. Got a deal on the GM one from someone who had it as a spare and sold the truck and the Diapco came with the new IP.

A friend sent me the link and I wanted to know what I was dealing with before I responded to his e-mail. Thought some of the text in the add was stretching things.

No problems here, packratt... you and I have both seen the elephant, so I know your intentions were above the table.

I agree that some of the ad seems, well, like advertising :D

Northern Auto Parts has always been a little bit like Walmart...

Actually my reason for trying Northern Auto Parts wasn't price related, but because their location is an easy overnight ground ship - had the part been stocked. The water pump wasn't for a 6.5; just thought the service experience was telling.

Mentioning the experience on the forum was simply for "caveat emptor" purposes. In 25 years of buying parts from a multitude of sources, this is the first time I've made such a post.
