outside door handle plastic

this isn't 6.5 engine specific but its specific to our body style. anyone know where i can get the plastic piece that "goes" around the outside door handle? it seems to cover the inner workings of the door handle and lock cylinder. mines cracked right about where the key goes in and also right above the handle itself. i've seen lots of chevy's with those cracked so i'm guessing its a common thing after so many years/miles. i just hope its not a dealer part.

also losing the battle against the rust. paint is starting to come off the front quarter panels around the wheel wells(and metal with it). bed supports have gone from stage 1 vented to stage 2 performance vented in a few spots. does LMC have bed supports? i can't find my catalog. :willynilly:

has everything? i've since found the plastic piece i'm looking for. its the bed supports i'm still searching for. so far i've seen just the entire bed floor which is $0.05 under a grand.

Trucks beds always go to hell in New England. My uncle has a business selling used truck beds that he gets in Georgia. He sells them all over New England. He usually takes orders, then when he gets a full load he brings them up. You could tell him what you need, depending on what he has for orders all ready it may take a week, or it may take 6 to get it. But it would be a southern truck bed. I can't imagine it would be much more than what you're willing to pay for just the floor.

There is a junkyard in Willimantic called (Phoentic spelling) "Coochies". He sells nothing but truck stuff. I'll try to find his # If I can remember how to spell his name. Probably less work and grief to just change the whole bed if it's rotting that bad.

the bed itself isn't rotting except where the back bumper smacked into it when the PO hit a tree(behind the drivers taillight is rotting). its just the bed supports that are rotted. strange but when the truck was new it had a blasting box welded to it and i'm guessing it burnt the paint off the bottom of the bed/bed supports and thats how they rotted. any way to just patch the bed supports with scrap steel? i'd figure its just remove bed, remove rust and rot, and weld but that seems to easy.

Tear the box off and toss it. Turn 'er into a flatdeck... weld up a square frame, lay down some nice planks, build a little headache rack and use a big beer keg for a fuel tank!

Put some stained rail sides on it, and you got yerself a hotrod!

i had that plastic piece crack on my door handle and also had the same problem on my aunts tahoe. I would have just ignored it but the handle seems to get more and more play and eventually you can't get your key out of it. Cost me $65 in parts to fix it.
