Door Lock Remote

Has anyone ever reprogrammed a door remote? I bought a 94' GMC S15 Jimmy with power locks and it came with a remote that won't work even though it has new batteries. If the remote itself is bad can I reprogram a factory remote from my 94' Camaro which uses different remotes that came with the aftermarket remote starter?

Thanks for the reply, I have done the sequence without using a Scan Tool like the Link you provided said to do without any success, I wonder if any Scan Tool will work as a friend has a Snap On Scan Tool that will work with OBD 1?
