I just saw this on my 5th wheel owners forum. Dometic is expanding the recalls of refridgerators. If the amonia leaks out of the system while its running it can cause a fire. Go to http://www.dometicusa.com/recall.php and plug in your model & serial # . I'm leaving in two weeks for NC and now I have to get it retrofited

Had mine in for the fix already - by the time I got my notification, the notice had been out for some time. I was instructed to not use propane for the fridge under any conditions until the repair is completed because of a possibility of a fire hazard.
How's that for comforting news? I'd been going down the road with that running for quite a long time...

I had mine retrofitted last year, to me it's just a band aid patch up fix.

All they did to mone was install a sheet metal shield around the burner. Any fire other than a really small one isnt going to be stopped by the shield.
We had a truck at work that had an AC line and a 12v wire chafe through and when it took off it was impressive.

They did mine last week. The local official dealer was booked out 3 months, and were subcontracting out to a smaller shop if you wanted it sooner. I was less than impressed with the local shop. They added a sheet metal shield and an additional sensor and harness, which presumably cuts off propane in the event of a fire? The sheet metal part is so poorly installed that it friggin' bows the plastic cover out. I'm doubly annoyed to have to take it back to have them fix their fix...

Regards,
Michael Pliska

That suck's, I will have to mention it to who ever I have do my work and hopefully they will do a better job.

I've heard there haven't been any real issues but, this was a safeguard???

I know it sounds like B.S. so, has anyone had an incident?

I have not heard of anyone maybe I will go over to RV net and look it up and see.Would hate to test the theory and be wrong about it though. As soon as I get my hitch all set-up I will take her in.

Based on what I saw on mine, the refit is primarily in case the unit malfunctions, as long as it operates normally you are fine. I really dont think the shield will do much but slow the fire down a little.

I tried that ,they won't send you the parts. I had to take it in.

I just got a second notice in the mail about a possible failure causing a leak in the system. This after I already had my unit in to get fixed from the other recall. Fortunately, my unit was not included this time, but I'll be keeping an eye on things.
I also just read on an RV forum I frequent that some companies have now dropped Dometic and are using another brand. Keep your eyes open...

Got my notice from Keystone not Dometic and I got it this past monday, the day we got back from our trip, hows that for timing? Now its time to fight the service centers to get an appt to get it fixed.

2ed Recall Letter

Just recieved our 2ed recall for the Dometic fridge. i'm going to try and see if they will replace the fridge. Or get the thing band-aided again . We'll keep ya posted
