OK, I know burning oil did a sort thread:

http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/sh...-mirrors-(DIY)&highlight=dodge+mirrors+towing

I have a few questions.

Anyone hook up the power functions yet? What was involved? Difficult or just "remapping" the wires?

Do they make a significant difference towing? (IE visibility)

How much wider are they than the stock mirrors when in the "normal" position? (truck barely fits in garage with GM mirrors)

You should just ask this in the original thread instead of creating a 2nd thread. The creator and/or others may be notified via E-Mail or other means when a new post is in the original thread, and may never look at this one or see its existance.

Nope.

This is a thread (for the most part) about the power functions, the original thread is for installing 98-2001 manual mirrors which is pretty much a bolt on affair after a tiny bit of drilling and shaving.

If a mod wants to merge them, then so be it...

We will leave it for now, see were it goes.

One problem for this is the same mirrors in power that will fit or truck, they do not make. I had this problem on my 2002 Dodge, I had no choice but to go with no power.

If you have the time, money, and patience it could be done.

I know Wyatt (1999gmc) did this mod and got the power going. I haven't seen him in a month or so though. If he doesn't reply I'll take a run by his shop and let him know about this thread.

I'm looking at "kool vue" mirrors that offer a power and heated option fro the 98-02 dodge trucks.

You are correct (from what I've read) on the stockers, no power....:(

Thanks! I'm thinking it can't be that hard. figure out which wire runs which mirror motor and splice away...

I can look it up tomorrow at work and see which wires do what on the dodge mirrors. So far cheapest place I've found to get the kool-vue ones is discountautomirrors.com. I think they are $82 for heated and power

I wish, sent them an email.

They won't ship to canada without jacking up the price and using UPS standard ground.....

Heater on driver side is BK/LG, pass side is same. On the movement of the mirror from what I remember I had to play with it because I think GM used 4 wires and Dodge only used three. DB/WT and YW are your up/down and left/right, YL/PK should be the common(Driver side). On the Pass side YL/BK and DB should be the left and right and up and down and the WT should be your common. When I get my new one, I'll see how I wired them. I had a woodpecker crack the mirror on the pass. side when I was camping he grabbed onto my mirror and pecked it until it cracked the glass.

Good info.

Thanks.
