While I was visiting my local napa trying to find a different band clamp for my outer cv boot, the kit I bought from Schucks had too short a band, we got comparing boots and looking at complete assys. We noticed that it had a speed sensor ring on it. Mine didn't. So we got looking at hub assemblies and discovered TD was right at least for his application the speed sensor came with the hub, but on the HD axle ie 8 lug it didn't come with a sensor just a plug if you didn't have ABS. I was thinking this might be a good opportunity to compare notes on the different parts used by different years and different load capacities. If we get enough response this could be a helpful thread when junkyarding etc.

K1500, being a 6-lug hub, should have smaller CV joints - thus, shorter clamp bands - like gassers (patooie!)

8-lug K2500 and K3500 should be up-sized accordingly

Move to the gasser (patooie!) forum if you have one, then....................

I posted in jest (as usual), but the point should be clear - always insist on parts for the GM Diesel series - we don' need no steenkin' gasser (you know!) stuff...................

Don't worry about me I got pretty thick skin (and head sometimes too) I did tell them what its for but you see I did mention the name Schucks only reason I got it from them was they were the only one that had it in stock. The boot fit perfectly so I almost wonder if it got the wrong band by mistake. Or a supplier who is a one size fits all.
