Diesel Yukon

I ahh had already seen it and emailed for more pics. I would be curiuos what the underside looks like. Also does the coolant bottle look kinda dingy ?? Like Oil ?

There are some good mileage 6.5 SUVs out there. maybe not 24mpg, but probably over 20MPG easy. Perhaps because more are often 2WD, have 3.42 gears and they may sit lower to the ground than most lifted 4x4s. They are 1500s, but have F engines.

I don't know of any 1/2 tons with F engines in them. Perhaps F intake manifolds, but not a true F engine. How do you know that it's true, buddy?

-Rob :)

yea the 24mpg is a load of bs.....but i kinda always expect some bs with any sale.

as for the 1/2ton with the vin F, i just picked up a cheap (wasnt running) suburban. Its a 1500 8lug with the vin F motor. And its a F code from the factory, not just a manifold swap. I believe all the suburbans came with the F motors.

24 MPG on a GM400 truck with a 6.5TD is not gonna happen.

I have seen 24-25 with an older style K Blazer with the 6.2

Now this truck had 3.42 gears, 700R4, fresh injectors, fresh IP and was being driven at 55-60 on the freeway with two people in it in dry weather. (STOCK SIZE STREET TIRES)

The norm on that rig we always saw was 18-19 city and 23 Hwy (Local Freeway driving)

The 24-25 was only once on a trip to California and the event happened running across central Cal from Sacramento to Bakersfield. (I-5) Early hours of the morning with light traffic.

The return trip was averaging about 22.5- 23 MPG and coming over the Mts north back to Oregon the MPG dropped to about 21. ( may have had a stiff tail wind going down ???)

Any claims of those high MPG's on a 6.5TD are a stretch. I have owned several and never seen any real hits above 20 but I must admit, all the 6.5 TD's I have owned have been 2500 series Burb 4x4's or 3500 trucks and not Yukons/Blazers or light 1500's

My Kingdom for another nice diesel Blazer of the 88-91 vintage

MGW

Well, put the 6.5TD in a 3500lb chassis and the camaro was getting about 30mpg, is also aerodynamic. My C1500 extended cab with long bed is only 6k lbs full of 80 gallons of fuel and me sitting in it. I got 20+ MPG even at 75MPH, even with the GM4 turbo. When the new wheels and tires lifted it like 2 inches, I noticed a drop in MPG, not just from the taller tires messing with the odometer either. So if the SUVs are a lighter, little but lower ride, and slightly more aerodynamic they could be superior in efficiency.
