Since there was some questions about the cheap delphi injectors for a 6.5 n/a i took one apart just to see what I would find. I also took a bosch injector apart. It came out of a 94 c3500 with a 6.5 turbo. It has the red plastic ring on it as the turbo injectors were supposed to have. The numbers off the body of the bosch may not be correct. It was quite rusty before I cleaned it up. The body numbers and nozzle numbers are written on the paper on top of the injectors. Neither injector had any shims inside. I assume they were just put together on a assembly line and not fine tuned. I haven't built my pop tester yet so I can't report the pop pressures. The comparison wouldn't be correct any how when comparing new to used. Both nozzle numbers end with 304.!st pics are the new n/a delphi

Is the pintle tip flat sided like the turbo ones ? There will be shims ,or one washer, at the top inside,it probably is just stuck.

I didn't notice any flat sides on either one. The point on the bosch was worn and was sticky on the bore it rides in. I'll have to go disassemble them again to look for it. Exactly where will the flat spots be?

The flat would be the point on the pintle or needle valve.
The shim(there always is one) as 6.2 pointed out, is on top of the spring prob stuck to inside of the top half,Keep your finger on it ( lest it flies all across the shop)and blow it loose with compressed air.

Instead of changing hole size they get more fuel from the flat side on the needle ,it leaves a small gap when its open, the flat is on the second step from the bottom, its angled towards the center and is very small, but makes a huge difference, the marine is the same ,but they get more fuel by cutting the very last tip off,its very easy to make your own marine tips.

Yes there is a flat spot on the delphi and the bosch. Not really visable to the naked eye. I could barely see it with a magnifying glass but it's there. I did get the shim to fallout and not shoot across the shop. There you have it. Only difference is pop pressure. $100 for a set is a steal.

You got the real deal ,I was afraid they would be the wrong nozzles. Pop pressure is not as important as that little flat spot, you can use ac clutch shims to adjust pop pressure if you want to make them higher, but it takes a lot of time .

Well if youre going to take the time to build the pop tester then I guess its worth while to make good use of it. I would like to do the same, thats why I bought a set of used (<10k) "marine" injectors for $100, maybe I'll pick up a set of 8 of these N/A too.

I'm going to check with my local injection shop about shims. I would imagine there is a bunch of different thickness'. After seeing how they go together I would rebuild my own. Not really much to them.Rockauto sells bosch nozzles.
