ok guys heres my problem
about 2 weeks ago i noticed when the truck was cold, when i first started it up it would run fine but if i say had to stomp on it to get out in traffic it would die when i pushed clutch in. so i grabed the next gear and let the clutch out and she started right up. now this goes away once the motor gets up over 120* or so. i was thinking it may have had something to do with the fact that i havent changed fuel filters in a while changed it out yesterday. i pulled the filter and down in the bottom of the housing there was alot of nasty stuff and on the filter there where some pices of rust. im gessing from the tank. got it all cleaned out and reprimed and fired her up and she still dies untill warmed up

any ideas

just remembered i think this stared happening after i took the oil cooler off and pluged the holes in the block (had a bad leak and was waiting on leroy to see if his kit would work with 4x4 ordering new cooler very soon)could this have any thing to do with my problem seems like it wouldnt to me but all the info helps

Do the lift pump test and put some good fuel conditioner in it, Sea Foam or Lucas easy to find, Lucas would probably be better for this problem.

Did you turn up the fuel yet?

no havent turned it up yet. i was thinking it dosnt do it all the time and when it dose its like it looses fuel or has air in the system. could i have an injector leaking down? iv been noticing the smell or raw fuel sometimes when the truck is off and its been setting for a bit

LP runns great when ops in jumped used that to blead the air out when i changed filter but i dont know if the ops will make it run

i will try and do the check list tomorow i was going to tonite but didnt have time seeming as it is very long

so i guess no one has any idea darn my luck having such a wired problem and its intermitent as well which makes it harder to figure out

When the truck is cold/warm, she dies when you step on the clutch to change gears?

Is that what your saying?........Sorry, but i'm not quite understanding from your written description of the problem.

Dude, do the lift pump test. Crank the truck and open the water drain with the engine running, if the engine stays running for 15 seconds you have other problems.

If it passes the lift pump test, put a double dose of lucas in the fuel. If that dont fix it, new IP time or live with it.

Whats the idle set at.

Skpped all the Lift Pump tests? That is the most important.

Without LP, the IP will have to suck fuel all the way. So IP may be bad.
Just a warning.

just went out and did the LP test started truck running fine opend water drain and after a little bit it died hard to get restarted like when i had air in the lines. poped ops connector of a jumpered the lp with blead screw open heard lp running took a bit for fuel to come out but when it did it was flowing good im thinking i got a bad OPS but i changed it a couple months ago wiht one from Napa

hope i gave you guys better info this time

2] Fuel Issues (if not running):
2a] Can you hear your lift pump working? ____no________
2b] Do you get a steady flow of fuel from the water drain (T-handle) ? ___no only a little steam not like it used to be when i drained the water______
2c] Loosen the inlet line from the IP – is fuel coming out (Lift Pump on)? ___some________
2d] Loosen an injector line and crank the engine - does fuel come out? __yes ______
2e] Do you hear a vacuum (hiss) when you remove the fuel cap? __yes_________

Napa's OPS replacment are not up to spec with OEM (AC-Delco) and are a known weak link. With that being said, get a GM Oil Pressure switch/sender, also you might want to do the OPS (relay) modification, (check the stickeys) found in the DIY section.

went to the dealer this am got an acdeclo ops and have not had a problem sence. i now get a good stream of fuel from water drain. and the truck also seems to ideal smother and now that i think about it iwas experincing hicups ocasionally before and they are gone now as well so thanks to you guys and who ever craeted the check list if i had just started with that i could have fixed this last week
thanks again guys
