Been reading a lot of stuff about the land slides and such, nothing looks good :nonod: Look like Deal's Gap is closed and I've heard through the interwebby (so it has to be true) it could be close as long as till Aug or even later

Welllllll, I guess I'll have to wait till next year to go tackle the Dragon.... :mad2: :sad:

I thought the slide was 2 miles before Chillhowie damn. If it is than the actual gap would be open. However reading the article, TN is closing it at the TN / NC state line, because there is no road access from the TN side. The slide is not on the 318 curves in 11 miles part, it is before you get there by about 2 miles, just after where the foot hills park way gets onto 129 which is the last road getting onto 129 on the TN side.

It's official - Dragon is blocked off at the state line. TDOT now saying slide will be cleared on March 26. We'll keep you posted.

I don't know, but if I was headed that direction with a trailer in tow, I'd find some other route.

I40 is closed just north of there, so alot of people are using the gap to get over to Hiway 129 which will lead them back to the open side of I40. Deals cap is closed on one end and are hoping to get it open by the end of the month.
