Was going to a truck place that has the Allsion Spin On Filters and along the way I just happen to pass by the Chevy dealership where I bought my truck. Ok, just for kicks I went inside the parts department and asked for one of the spin on filters. :mad2: Well about the time the parts guy said that will be $45 dollars is almost the moment that I told him to go somewhere. I said 45 dollars, I ain't paying that, you can sell it to someone else. He jerked the filter back like he was mad and as I was leaving I said you can rip off someone else. I was thinking to myself, " someone call the police they are trying highway robbery on me".

I drove up the road and a place that sells big GM trucks was going to buy one for about 7 or 8 bucks. They were out, but called another place that works on trucks and Allison stuff. I went there and bought 2 filters for about 16 bucks. I thanked them for treating me like a human being.

That's why they are called stealerships. Glad you were able to find one at a reasonable price.......

That is the GM price, it's no different than you can buy a RACOR fuel filter for $35-40 or an AC DELCO for $70 that's the same filter. A good example was when I bought my FPR for my BURB. I bought it from HUCKSTORF for $187 plus shipping, and it just so happens that GM's cost on it was $212 but came out to $435 after mark-up(I knew the parts guy and he showed me the breakdown). GM buys alot of parts forl ist price and then marks them up, if you know where to buy them for the actual list price you can save a BUNCH!

I figured there was a big mark up on their parts. One reason I always stayed away from their parts department and went to my local parts house.

All you had to say was you went to the dealership... I remember similar sticker shock the first time I went to get a fuel filter for my first Dmax. I followed your protocall by telling the guy at the parts desk he was crazy and walked away.

You need a wholesale account at the dealer... For the dealer only items.

That's why I order mine off of the internet... It's sad you can't give back to your community but I can't afford for 5x the price either.

Nobody can Jeff. That is just plain wrong. Making a little money is understandable, but raping people is just plain totally wrong.
