I looked up Turbovanmans company he rferred me to Dynamic Fuel Inj and they advertise DB4s onb there web site. So I called them and asked them about it. They had to look it up for the 6.5 came back with a price of $1500 with no core brand new. I asked about the throttle sensitivity that I'd heard about and they told me it shouldn't be any diff than a db2 uses all the same governor parts. I'm seriously considering this for my dually. Won't be for awhile though. I asked about any other info he could give me and he said it was all copyrighted by Stanadyne and he couldn't give it out. Whatcha all think?

I don't know that there is a db4 that will bolt to a 6.5,it must be a custom built db2 if you want 4 plungers, the db4 has a stronger cam pin. The 4 plunger head and rotor cost me $500.

My question would be, will the webs stand up to 40 bhp per cylinder?

I'm thinking with a balanced rotating assembly, girdle, maybe lowering the compression a smidge, THEN you might want to try it, but...

A turned-up DB2 puts out about all the fuel I'd want to run through one of these old engines without building it from the ground up.

Maybe I'm over-cautious...

Doesn't mean he has to mash the pedal...

I havn't WOT in my truck since my initial 6.5 stalling PMD introduction 3 years ago when I was trying to blow it up.

Governers rule.

Just because you have it, doesn't mean he has to use it. If your easy on the power and watch the gauges and don't do anything silly I don't see any ill effects??

Don't let your teenage son take the truck... Thats for damn sure.

I'm considering the idea of making a structural oil pan with modified main caps so it can be cross bolted as well.

You'd be best to speak wih the boys at Peninsualr Diesel. They said the DB4 is a marine IP and won't have the same throttle response as a Vehichle app. They said they could build a DB2 to as Jim said, deliver more fuel than a 6.5 can handle anyway. I believe the advance works differently as well.

The guys I talked to at Dynamic said it uses the exact same parts as a db2

The head and rotor is the same except the four means four plungers which also come in different sizes, shoes, cam pin,cam piston ,and cam ring are separate for the db4,but db2 parts can be used if modified,or your not worried about the small db2 cam pin.The pump I built for my 6.2 could be called a db4 it has 4 plungers,it still needs some work but it pumps pretty much fuel.

So can you get any of the specs etc that stanadyne won't let out to the public?

I would need a pump number or a head and rotor number off the pump your looking at,but I might still need some help from Central Penn for all the specs. I wish I had a book of all the Stanadyne part numbers,I wouldn't mind finding a huge 2 plunger head and rotor for a 8 cyl,but so far I only found them for 6 cyl ,although they can be converted to 8,its very tricky.
