Hey folks,

The truck isnt hot restarting too well (and I melted the lead spacer puck, and slightly damaged the battery. brand ****ing new ones with matching serial numbers too.

soo, I am starting to think the IP might be headed south, along with my timing issue.

So, I ask, what, if any, diferences are there between a DB@ from an automatic vs a manual? is the throttle shaft longer to accomodate the TPS? I ask since i have a parts engine out of a identical except automatic truck.

also, is one from a 6.2L the same?

any input appreciated, thanks!

PS, truck made it to Rio Vista CA, we are en route to Tulare!

Cranking speed issue from dragging starter?

6.2 pumps have a different amount of throttle shaft rotation that you only care about for automatic TPS range. The plungers are smaller, but, a 6.2 pump will deliver all the fuel a engine choking GM3 turbo can use. Set the voltage at idle on the TPS to .5v and you will never see the 5v full throttle on a 6.2 pump. The computer won't care or code set like this. There is a different TPS for the 6.2 auto and it has a different plug to the harness...

There is a rebuilt pump in the deal finder section for cheap.

oh no, it cranks great. just after a heatsoak it is having restart issues, which it didnt before. I am wondering about an air leak as well, or a weak LP. unfortunately I kept it light this trip as I was plenty heavy, (18,650 lbs truck trailer and load) so I am lacking all special 6.5L tools.

I am wondering about whther to use the Auto DB2, or sell it to someone wanting to convert and use funds generated to rebuild my current one if the auto one is special, like a long nosed throttle shaft, special housing bosses and threaded areas for sensor mounting, etc.

Not seen a MT DB2 myself. Does it have anything on the passenger side throttle shaft? The roll pin comes out of the shaft easy enough for the TPS sensor / vac switch.

Myself it is all about:
cheap and working > vanity

They are the same pumps. Only difference is the auto version has the tps on the side. The throttle shaft has a spot for a pin in and on manual trans they just don't put the tps on...
