I'm trying to put a new boot on my front axle cv joint and I'd like some help figuring out how to get it apart so I can put a new boot on.

Oh for a FSM.:mad2:

If I remember right,
There's a big "frostplug" in the flange you need to take out, then there's a c clip on the shaft you have to remove. then you can slide the yoke off.both booths go on from that side.

There is a clip in the outer joint you need to spread apart then pull the outer joint off of the shaft, you can then put the new boot over the cleaned outer joint it snaps back on the shaft.

Just waiting on my IT advisor. :D

In the meantime, I'm assuming you're doing the outer boot:

1. Slide the boot down the halfshaft bar and away from the CV joint outer race.

2. Find the halfshaft bar retaining snap ring, which is located in the inner race. Spread the snap ring ears apart.

3. Pull the CV joint and the CV joint boot from the halfshaft bar. Discard the old CV joint boot .

Thanks for the replies I actually found the info in one of my pos chilton manuals. Now the only problem I have is the band that came in the kit isn't long enough. I'm thinking I'm going to extend it with my spotwelder.
