Hi all,

I have a buddy being in trouble with cruise control.
We cleaned all grounds, nothing changed.

The GMTDCscantech shows following codes :

DTCs JY.jpg

don't care about the ECT code. It shows there because he has been playing with ECT sensor (connect/disconnect)

Does it tell something to any of you? We don't see anything else wich may cause the cruise quiting, except may be the cruise switch itself...

Good info!

I just found out that GM used the same cruise control box on all truck from 1988(I think) thru 1999 on their gas trucks. The diesel trucks went thru to 1993. The only thing differant is the cable for the diesel trucks.

This info tells me that the control box should be cheap! I will bet that it is not.

Agreed, DieselCash.

I would like to be able to find the parts I need to make the CC work with my mechanical IP.

My cruise cut out due to the brake switch needing adjustment. My friend made the adjustment for me, took him 2 seconds. He said it needed to be rotated forward, the cruise thought the brakes were being applied and wouldn't engage. Never a problem since. Also if the TC is not locking, it may not engage. Had that problem too. Replaced TC, no more issues.

The diesel and gasser cruise stuff is the same for the '92 and '93's. I've got a '93 3500 6.5 with cruise and a 93 1500 5.7 with cruise and aside from the engine bracket the cruise stuff is identical. Since they made a bunch of 5.7's and 5.0's it might be easier to scrounge that off one of those. :smile5:

I'm surprised no one mentioned this. Sometimes when the PMD starts to fail you notice w/ the cc not working.

My cruise is dead and I'm going to zero in on it next.

1 year ago, while driving on cruise, it just kicked off. So, I hit the button again, same thing. Sometimes it would work others not so much. Today, not at all. The only time we use the Burb is for long road trips, much less fun without cruise.

Switch or brake signal switch?

Everytime I engage the left turn signal to change lanes mine kicks off. Obviously a switch issue... But frustrating either way.
