Well I could not find my old thread on my Cruise Control experiment. Maybe I never redid it on this site from DP. Anyway after a week of feeling like crap I finally had a nice warm day today(40) and some motivation. As some may recall I did a little experiement over at DP on my Old Tahoe (95 OBD1) . Truck did not have cruise from the factory but since these trucks are drive by wiring, it seemed reasonable that all one should have to do is change the multifunction switch(T/S stalk) and install the fuse in the fuse block and the truck should have cruise. After doing some asking and poking I found that there was no difference in the ecm from a truck with cruise to one without so this should work. After a few bugs it worked.(Truck had some minor issues preventing it. Code 41). Now I got my 98 Burb which also came with no Cruise Control . I like cruise and in theory this should work on an OBD2 truck as well since the DS4 is drive by wire. So I did not take a huge amount of photos because the technical end of this is basically as simple as chaning the Multi Function Switch from the Non Cruise one to one with Cruise. Then just pop in the 10a fuse and vioolllaaa. Got it on the first shot. I now have Cruise Control. The Multi function switch with Cruise is available from any Auto PArts store. Advanced was the cheapest locally. I did not try Rockauto because Advance had it in stock and I felt like doing it today. 178$.

Just to add, It can be done without pulling the steering wheel or messing with the SRS. Also it took me about an hour total. The worst part is getting to the plug under the dash. Once you unbolt it from the mount you need to lossen all the way up the bolt that hold the plug together. It's hard to see. Then to get the plugs for the MFS out you need to pry them slightly in the middle. If you have the new one next to you you can look at it and figure that part out.

As far as plug and play, yes, only the diesels.

I imagine 2004+ drive by wire gassers might be able to do the same.
Dbw went pretty much across the board in 03 when they revised the interiors. Pretty sure it works for them like the diesels since the throttle os electronically controlled.
