Question is, are you 100% they are not getting knock off parts even by accident?
Authorized Dealer has become a critical thing in my book now- and I never used to be on the dealership side of the page.

I found my GM balancer by looking up the part number on a site called oem cats dot org or somesuch. it located one nearby, after a call to the dealer in our town they confirmed and I drove a couple hours to pick it up!. I could have had then ship it in but I wanted it for the weekend to have my rig running again!.

I have one new acdelco 6.5 balancer I got from rockauto 3 or 4 years ago I plan to use on my 87 6.2 rebuild.I probably should have bought an extra one at that time since now those are dried up bigtime in regards to availability.

even for RA, open up the package and verify the casting on it making sure it's legit. I can't recall who it was here, might have been Will that said he had gotten delco items from them and they were fake.

Sock was not the problem and they serve a purpose beyond the initial filtering. Sock provides greater surface area over the suction of the pick up tube. Without it, you could suck a leaf onto the tube which would block it.

There are plenty available. GEP is building engines every day and Delco is still supplying them. Using a balancer from a military take out is an ok idea because most the engines get overheated before 20,000 miles

I'm not in doubt, but just wondered how you identified the fake? I doubt it will be just one supplier.

Calling the mfr (Delco) told them failure and they had me ship it to them.

Had same possible issue with bosch but when they heard i bought parts from anything other then authorized dealer- they instantly denied ownership and wouldn’t even accept the parts for inspection.

Is there any sealer of any sort needed when installing or just put it on? Any certain way this needs to go together that isn't obvious? Is there a certain torque for the fastener bolt or just snug it up?

Snug and anrobic sealer, at some point it may need to be removed.

There used to be a site you could search the whole country by part number.
I found several discontinued parts on that page. I never had a problem with the dealerships shipping the needed parts.

Have you purchased from that site, though? It shows as not secure so I have been skeptical when I've seen things come up on there. I've seen quite a few parts I've really wanted to buy but I figured the price that looked too good to be true may have actually been so.
