If your losing antifreeze into the engine oil, I have been told it's either the head gaskets or injector cups, BUT if the loss is either one, shouldn't the coolant system depressurize after a while ? If I don't drive my truck the coolant system can stay pressurized for a week just sitting there.

Is there any where else that the coolant can mix with the antifreeze ? turbo maybe or oil cooler ?

I'll lose maybe a cup or less of coolant every 3,000 miles, it's not a big leak but my oil sample tests are definitely showing anti freeze in the engine oil, and I'm positive it's not an external leak anywhere.

I'm at a loss. :mad2:

I had headgaskets replaced in Oct 07.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed what I believe is coolant under the truck ONLY in the morning before I started the engine. After the engine warmed up there was no leaking or sign of it anywhere. I looked under the engine and trans and the only sign of leak was on the flat section of the trans and engine bolt up face. It was in the flat section where the weep hole is.

The fluid appeared by feel to be coolant but the color is closer to trans fluid. I felt of both fluids for samples and it really feels more like coolant.

It kept getting worse and I was thinking maybe a cracked head or the headgasket again. Then I began to think maybe because of no sign anywhere except the eng and trans bolt up face that possibly the rear eng freeze plug or plugs are leaking. If it is not that I have no clue what it is.

I took the truck into the dealer this afternoon and they could not see any evidence either. They kept it overnight to take a look at it in the morning.

This is really getting frustrating by not being able to see where the fluid is coming from.

UPDATE 1/14/09

Dealer called and said that they had no sign of a leak. I asked if they kept it in the shop and the shop was warm and it was. I told them to leave it outside since it will be cold tonight and see what they get.

The first time I had a leaking head gasket I put the GM stop leak in it per the dealer suggestion and had to add some one time after the initial but I drove it around 100K miles like that before it gave out and had to be replaced.

I am considering that again if they don't find a specific item that is leaking.

I forgot to mention, I take cover when I unscrew the cap....damn thing shoots off like a cannon, hits the hood and goes half way across the yard....

This leak deal is baffling. Yesterday morning, after bring it home from the dealer, there was a spot about 3 in. in diameter under the truck and I could see a drop of two on the eng/trans housing interface. This morning there is nothing under the truck.

I am still tempted to do the GM stop leak stuff. Really not sure which direction to go with this since I don't know exactly where it is coming from. It sure makes me think it is from the back side of the block though.

My truck had the same symptoms, oil analysis and all. called my local dealer (priority chevy in greenbrier va) told them this and they said bring it in for injector replacement without any probs at all.
