IS it the cap? It seems I swapped it out for a cap I had in the tool shed once before.

Are there new caps worth buying?

Does anybody have the OEM part number?

IS ths a part that you want to stay GM or Ac Delco?

Does anybody have one for sale?

Could it be the Tank? Part number?

I think iirc GM quit offering the original spec cap and changed the spec (by just a few psi) so that another cap would suffice. So IMO even a new GM/AC Delco one is not truely OE. So it might not pay to worry about true OE.

Mine is a bit hard to get off. Last time I took it off I tried to clean the tank opening a bit then sprayed the opening and cap (cleaned it too) with a silicone spray. It made it a bit easier to put on and take off for a while. But I haven't opened it in a while.

I think the copper/brass tarnishes a bit and gets a bit "sticky" or increases the "sticktion". If the spring seems ok and its not leaking I'd try to clean it and lube it. I can't remember what I cleaned it with. Might try some some brasso???

Another good product to spray on to lube it would be Fluid Film.

Are there any made in the USA?

Doubt it. Every one i've seen is Mexico or China, unless you can find one that's been sitting on the shelf since the 90s or so. Then maybe it would be US made, but even in the 90s stuff was made in mexico.

I bought a coolant cap last year from the dealer......Let me see if I still have the box with the old one in there.....The box should have a P/N on it.

Mine was hard to get off, so I changed out to a Stant Lever Vent style. No issues and is now easier to undo.

10330 was the part number I think.

Cheers

Thanks, I'll try that if the new one doesn't fix the issue. Have to wait til I get to a different computer. This computer has issues and I can't access several sites. Including Paypal.

The spec is for a 15 LB. cap......You could probably use any reputable brand.

I've gotten further and further away from using aftermarket stuff. Even the reputable brands. It seems all new parts are crap.

I ordered the Stant cap on Amazon. I can order there but can't log into Paypal & several other websites. Be glad when I get a different computer.

The Stant says it's a 16 lb. cap. Is this a concern?

It made me hesitate, but I still ordered.

I would say 16 psi is ok. I think the only time it should approach 15-16 psi is if its hot and has a lot of air to expand (say if its low when cold and you run it hot 205-210 plus and it should n't relieve pressure).???. Normal operating temp I am guessing it runs 8-12 psi ????

Anyone have a cap with pressure guage built into it?

Louis is both the old and new cap from last year 15 psi. My OE is 15 psi and think GM quit selling it new and went to 16 psi iirc (I think you got one of the last 15 psi) ???

I put a 5 lb. cap on mine years ago.

Ok, Sorry I must have gotten something crossed up. My cap is OE I believe and is RC33 15 psi. Not RC27 as pictured in Louis's post. Is the new one 15 psi?. What RC #'s are your old one and new one?

Both are 15 PSI. But different styles.....The old one was a black round, plastic cap and the new one is the silver Metal with the 2 ears on it, for a better grip, I guess.
