I replaced ALL my coolant hoses, removed the "quick disconnect" fitting and replaced with a barb fitting. The radiator is new. The system holds pressure.

There is still a coolant leak somewhere. I don't think its the headgasket. No coolant in oil, no instant rad hose pressurization.

Does anyone have a picture or two of where this infamous "coolant blockoff plate" is located? Do I get to it from the top or from underneath? Does anything need to come off to get to it?

look from the top at your FFM and then look to the left you will see one, look to the right and you will see the other this one has the GP controller attached to its studs.

Yeah, its like the exact same thing if the coolant crossover thermostat housing were on the back. Right behind the intake on both sides of the fuel filter manager as ChevyCowboy said.

You may have to pull them off and put a gasket there. The one on the passenger side has a ground on it most likely and the stud could have come loose if someone had been working on it, replacing or cleaning that ground.

When time permits I intend to mod the block off plates to flow coolant to the heater hose to promote flow at the back of the engine.
I have seen a kit available but the price is way to high-DIY will be much cheaper.
I may attempt to add a fitting to the crossover manifold rather than the heater hose if a competant tig welder can be found-not sure yet.

Heath used to sell a "balance flow " system. He discontinued it in favor of a modified new HO water pump.If you call him he will explain why. I doubt he would discontinue something if there wasn't a reason.
