I want to put in a console in place of my jump seat. The problem maybe the 4 wheel drive floor shifter.

Has anyone installed one with a floor shifter?

Can you bend the floor shifter to the left for clearance?

What would the best way to bend the shifter? Cold or heat it?

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

I would remove it and heat it. Or you could make a threaded screw on adapter and cut the side of the console and have it stick through the side. You would probably want it flat so you would not have anything in the way of your feet or leg.

Thanks. Did it yesterday. Went pretty well.

Looks good. I did the opposite a few years ago. I went from console to jump seat. I do wish I had rubber floor and floor shift.

Looks great Brian, how did you end up bending the shifter (if you did)? I got a little confused with post 3 though, I think I missed a post or something.

I did not have to bent the shifter after all. The shifter has a bracket mounted to the floor. The shifter moves back and forth in this bracket. I cut the bracket with some snips. Then at the base of the shifter you will find a rubber bushing. I removed the bushing. With these two modifications, the shifter is allowed to more over to the left. I then put the rubber bushing back in the base of the shifter but this time I put it on the right side to keep the shifter leaning to the left. I trimmed the console a little to allow for movement on the shifter. Then I trimmed the shifter boot to fit the console. I have some more photo's in my albums. Take a look if you want.
